Kane’s Goal and Missed Penalty
Harry Kane, who made a high-profile move from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich in 2023 for £86.4 million, found the back of the net early in the match. The England striker expertly controlled a long pass from Michael Olise before calmly finishing to give Bayern Munich the lead.
However, in the 15th minute, Kane had a chance to extend his side’s advantage with a penalty but slipped during his run-up, sending the ball sailing over the bar.
Bayern Munich’s Dominance and Late Goals
Despite Kane’s penalty miss, Bayern Munich completely dominated the match. In the second half, Bayern added three more goals to their tally. Konrad Laimer dispossessed Tottenham’s Djed Spence and passed the ball to Kingsley Coman, who curled in a fantastic shot for their second goal.
Midway through the second half, Bayern brought on several young players, with Kane among those substituted. Two of the youngsters made an immediate impact: 17-year-old Lennart Karl scored with a superb first-time shot from 18 yards, and 18-year-old Jonah Kusi-Asare whipped in a fine shot from the edge of the box to complete the 4-0 scoreline.
Kane’s Second Game Against Spurs
This match marked Kane's second encounter with Tottenham since his transfer to Bayern Munich, following a friendly against Spurs last year. Kane remains Tottenham’s all-time top scorer, having netted 280 goals in 435 appearances for the club.
Bayern’s New Signings Shine
Alongside Kane, new signing Luis Diaz from Liverpool also started for Bayern Munich. Diaz, who joined the German giants in the summer, added further depth to an already impressive Bayern squad.
Tottenham’s Upcoming Season Opener
Tottenham Hotspur's 2025-26 season kicks off on Wednesday, 13 August, with a high-stakes UEFA Super Cup match against Paris Saint-Germain in Udine.
